Criminal case launched on fatal railway accident in Lokbatan settlement

The press service of the General Prosecutorsâ€™ office told APA that the passenger train moving from Aghstafa to Baku collided with Daewoo bus #124 with the state number 10 TF 427 in Karadagh district on August 31 at 07.30. Police, medical and emergency brigades, transport officials immediately arrived at site and took urgent measures toward eliminating the consequences of the accident and assisting the injured people.

Baku city Prosecutorâ€™s Office has launched criminal case into the fact on Criminal Code Article # 262.3 (Infringement of traffic safety rules and operation of railway) and 263.3 (Infringement of traffic rules and operation of vehicles).

Law-enforcement bodies inspected the site and forensic medical experts examined the bodies. According to preliminary information, 6 people died in railway accident and 47 injured persons were brought to the Clinic Medical Centre and Institute of Traumatic Surgery. 18 people were allowed to leave the hospital after the first aid, 26 people are still undergoing treatment and the state of 10 injured is serious.

Currently the investigation department of the Baku Prosecutorâ€™s Office is continuing urgent and necessary operational search actions. Identities of deaths are being specified. The public will be informed.
