Radical sect members detained in Azerbaijan

Within the operational measures conducted on January 14 in Sheki region, police searched the houses of the sect members Tasvira Ahmadova, Mehdi Mehdiyev, Ilgar Gafarov, Nabi Babayev and Sohrab Bagirzadeh. At least 100 religious books, 80 brochures propagandizing different religious sects, 20 CDs. 7 audio-cassettes, brochures introducing Azerbaijan as an independent Islamic state and propagandizing terrorism and independent Muslim communities, were confiscated. It was identified that 12 little girls were involved in the sect in Dashuz villageâ€™s mosque. The fact is investigated. 26 religious books, 6 brochures, 7 leaflets, one handwritten copy-book, one booklet, one video-cassettes and 7 CDs were found and confiscated during the searches in the houses of residents of Sheki Shahmurad Aghabalayev, Jahangir Chalabiyev, Sani Heydarov, Aydin Mulayimov. The investigation is underway.
