Smuggling of 490 model of cultural heritage through the customs frontier was prevented in Azerbaijan in 2007-2011 - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

According to information, the illegal carriage of 490 models of cultural heritage consisting of books, carpets, swords, rifles, musical instruments, samovars and etc. through the customs was prevented as a result measures taken by the customs authorities in 2007-2011 for the purpose of preventing the smuggling of models of cultural heritage. Hundreds early manuscripts, icons and the other models of cultural heritage were given to the ANASâ€™s Institute of Hisotry named after Bakikhanov, Institute of Manuscripts named after Mahammad Fuzuli, Nakhchivan State Carpet Museum, Caucasian Muslim Board, Teze Pir mosque, Russian Orthodox Church in Baku Saint Jen-Mironosets Church, Roman Catholic Churchâ€™s representation in Azerbaijan and the other organizations.

It was noted 5 ancient icons which were presented by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev during his visit in 2011, were seized from smugglers by customs officers. A part of these models are kept in the State History Museum of the State Customs Committee and its division.
