Washngton. Isabel Levine-APA. The Azerbaijani Diaspora members in US have received a number of supportive letters from the Senators regarding their recent campaign about Ambassador Matthew Bryza’s appointment, APA’s correspondent was told by the Diaspora.
Just yesterday, Texas Senator John Cornyn sent a letter to the Diaspora members; assuring them that he will keep US Azerbaijani’s views in mind should Ambassador Bryza’s nomination be considered by the full Senate during the 112th Congress.
“As you may know, following Azerbaijan’s consent to Matthew Bryza’s appointment, the Obama Administration officially announced his nomination to serve as ambassador. Though Ambassador Bryza’s nomination was received in the Senate on May 26, 2010, he was not confirmed by the Senate during the 111th Congress. As a result, President Obama bypassed the Senate confirmation process and announced Ambassador Bryza’s recess appointment on December 29, 2010. This recess appointment expires in December 2011 and as such, President Obama has again submitted Ambassador Bryza’s nomination to the Senate”, reminds the Senator.
“Though I am not a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which has primary jurisdiction of this matter, you may be certain that I will keep your views in mind should Ambassador Bryza’s nomination be considered by the full Senate during the 112th Congress”, he added.
The Diaspora campaign was organized by the US Azerbaijanis Network.
