Landslide in Azerbaijan’s Lerik region

According to APA’s local bureau, the landslide in Hamarmeshe village of the region threatened a family living in that area. It covered 0.15 ha field in the territory of ground area owned by Orujali Fatullayev. It created emergency situation for a 2-storey private house owned by the Fatullayev’s family. The walls of the building split as a result of landslide, which covers larger territory day by day.
The landslide also occurs in Nucu village of Lerik region. Some of the villagers left their houses because the landslide created splits in the walls of tens of houses. Local residents said 300 people left the village in the past 5 years because of landslide.
The experts said the landslides in Lerik were caused by the above-normal rainfall last month.
Deputy chief of local executive power and chairman of the local emergency commission Habil Malikov told APA that landslide have been frequently recorded in the region’s villages recently. The authorities take preventive measures for the prevention of disasters.
