57 people died, 124 injured in fire accidents in Azerbaijan this year

Baku. Parvin Abbasov â€“ APA. â€œThis year the firefighters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have extinguished 6573 fires in the republic, including 2303 in Baku. Compared to the reporting period of 2012, the number of the fires reduced by 74 facts, burnt construction site by 1000 sq m, the area of the fires in grain fields by 31 ha, the area of forest fires by 47 ha,â€ Minister of Emergency Situations Kemaleddin Heydarov said, APA reports. Kemaleddin Heydarov said 38 bodies were found at the fire sites, 4 facts fewer compared to the previous year, 57 people died, 124 were injured in the fire accidents.
â€œTaking into account the population, the number of the people who died in the fire accidents in Azerbaijan is 5-10 times less compared to other countries. More than 1000 people died in fire accidents in Belarus, which population is 9.6 million, 150-200 people died in fire accidents in Lithuania, which population is 3.6 million, 18 000-20 000 people died in the fire accidents in Russia, which population is 145 million,â€ he said.
Minister said 1596 various facilities, approximately 11 000 ha unreaped grain field, 9 000 ha forest area, 236 head of cattle were protected by firefighters.
