Statement on incident occurred in Lankaran region of Azerbaijan

Press services of these organizations told APA that on December 15, a group of residents of Narimanabad-2 village of Lankaran region trespasses the state sea borders and were engaged in illegal fishery. 9 of them were detained by the servicemen of the State Border Service. The relatives of the detained, who heard this news, came to the frontier outpost with about 150 people, exerted pressure to the servicemen and demanded to release the detainees. The law-enforcement officers, who were in the site, tried to appease the villagers and asked them not to break the public peace, but some of the protesters showed resistance to police and injured them.

9 people, who broke the public peace and offered resistance to representatives of authority, were sent to Lankaran Regional Police Station. 3 of them gave explanation and were released, 6 were detained.

The criminal case has been launched into the fact by the Regional Prosecutorâ€™s Office under the Criminal Codeâ€™s articles 315.1 (Resistance or application of violence concerning the representative of authority) and 221.3 (hooliganism), the investigation is underway.
