The agreement on it must be achieved between the two countries”, said Chairman of Azerbaijan’s Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev, APA reports.

Underlining that both Azerbaijan and Hungary joined the European Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, Rzayev said that they were negotiating the issue of implementation of this document concerning Safarov.

Rzayev said that he didn’t suppose that the custody of Safarov in Hungary had a political goal: “This issue must be solved legally. There are international norms and if the two countries achieve an agreement, the issue will be positively solved. I suppose that the issue on Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan will be settled. The state institutions take relevant steps on this issue”.

Safarov was accused of killing of Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan in Hungary, and sentenced to life imprisonment by Budapest City Court on December 13 2006.
