Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office issues statement on arrest of Tefekkur University teacher and representative of Masalli region executive power

The statement sent to APA by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office says that representative of the head of Masalli region executive power Sadigzadeh Lachin Jafar without having the court decision or other official document gave illegal instructions to demolish the shop owned by Masalli resident Alishov Rasim Mirzaga on June, 2011.

After that Sadigzadeh demanded AZN 5000 from Alishov for the order from the region’s executive power permitting construction of a new shop.

As a result of the urgent measures taken by the Department to Combat Corruption, Sadigzadeh was caught red-handed taking AZN 2000 from Alishov in front of the administrative building of Masalli region executive power.

Sadigzadeh faced charges under articles 308.1 (abuse of power) and 311.1 (taking bribe) of the Criminal Code and was put under restraint.

A resident of Baku appealed to Prosecutor General’s Office and said assistant professor of Tefekkur University and chairman of the trade union committee Rustamov Ruzbeh Nadir demanded AZN 15 000 from him for admission to the faculty of transportation.

As a result of the urgent measures taken by the Department to Combat Corruption, Rustamov was caught red-handed in his room at the university in Baku on December 9, 2011.

Rustamov faced charges under article 311.3.3 (taking bribe) of the Criminal Code and was put under restraint.
Investigation into the case is being carried out with the participation of the experts of the Education Ministry.
