Baku. Habil Suleymanzade-APA. Today, the U.S. Embassy in Baku hosted an event dedicated to combating violence against women. Having a speech at the event, U.S. Ambassador Matthew Bryza noted that violence against women is a problem inherent in many societies, APA reports. According to the ambassador, the embassy will launch a program to combat early marriage issue and obstacles in the education of young girls next week. The Ambassador also expressed the Embassy’s support for women entrepreneurs. "If somewhere there are not women rights, it is inappropriate to talk about democracy there," Bryza said.

Then, the Ambassador’s wife Zeyno Baran Bryza underlined widespread violence against women in the world. "Today in the world, every third woman faces this terrible problem," she said.

Chairman of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynov noted that in societies where the family is a private institution, to solve the problem of violence against women is more difficult.
