The main aim of the visit was the monitoring of the treatment of the detainees. The delegation visited a number of police divisions, temporary detention facilities, jails in Kiev and Kharkov, talked to the detainees, concerned themselves the medical examination of the newly-detained persons.
The delegation also visited former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko in Kiev jail.
The outcomes of the visit were discussed during the meetings with Justice Minister Alexander Lavrinovich, Prosecutor General Viktor Psonka and first Deputy Interior Minister Sergey Chernikh.
Latif Huseynov told APA that a report will be prepared concerning the outcomes of the monitoring and submitted to the Ukrainian government.
Latif Huseynov was elected as chairman of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture in March, 2011.
