Drug situation can be discussed at the PACE Committee of Ministers

Rafael Huseynov, a member of the Committee of Ministers of Azerbaijani delegation also addressed a question in the session. "According to official sources, drug trafficking increased 2 times in Armenia during the last years, the number of registered drug addicts are 1717 persons, but international organizations confirm that they are more than 4 thousand. In other words, currently in Armenia one in 300 people are drug addicts on average. Again, according to Armenian sources, more than 100 thousand people in the country are considered tasted drugs at least one time. One of the main sources of this fast-growing terrible disaster is because of mass cultivation and smooth turnover of drugs in Armenian occupied and internationally uncontrolled territories of Azerbaijan.

As Armenian authorities looking at population not as citizens but just as a part of big market, these miserable statistics increase not from year to year but from month to month.

What can the Committee of Ministers do to prevent these processes in member state Armenia promising danger for South Caucasus as well as for all the Europe? " said Rafael Huseynov.

Chairman of the Committee of Ministers noted that such important issues are heard on a regular basis and particularly, studying of this problem separately is important. He also added that he was not ready to answer this question in details and this problem should be discussed at the Cabinet of Ministers and appropriate answer had to be given for the question.

In response to the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers, Rafael Huseynov said that he would continue working on this issue and submit a written question to the Cabinet of Ministers on Armeniaâ€™s drug cultivation, transit for own criminal purposes in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
