Mother accused of selling her three-year-old son for AZN 10 000 stands trial in Azerbaijan

APA reports that the hearing was presided by judge Zeynal Agayev. Public prosecutor Valeh Samadov read the indictment. Following this, the defendants gave testimonies. Zohra Isgandarova partially admitted her guilt. She said she wanted to give her son up for adoption, not to sell him.
“I did not have money to maintain my son. Therefore, I decided to give him up for adoption. That day Said Seyidov, who wanted to adopt my son, and his acquaintance policeman Elshan gave me AZN 10 000. The same day I was detained by the police,” she said.
Zohra Isgandarova answered the questions of the public prosecutor and the defense, it became known that Zohra Isgandarova’s testimony given during the investigation contradicted the testimony given in the court. Judge Zeynal Agayev read the testimony given by her during the initial investigation. In her testimony Zohra Isgandarova said she wanted to abandon her son or sell him.

The other defendant Murad Guliyev said he simply wanted to help Isgandarova.

The hearing will be continued in the second half of the day, witnesses will give testimonies.

As a result of the operations carried out by the Interior Ministry’s Department to Combat Organized Crimes, resident of Konullu village of Shamkir region Zohra Isgandarova was detained while selling her son Eljan for AZN 10 000.

She faced charges under article 144 (human trafficking) of the Criminal Code.
