European Court passes judgment on case of former parliamentary candidate Nadir Orujov, arrested over murder

APA reports quoting the website of the European Court of Human Rights that the case concerns Nadir Orujov’s disqualification from running as a candidate for the 2005 parliamentary elections on the ground that he had allegedly attempted to influence voters by funding repair works on public facilities for children and the elderly.

The European Court passed a judgment on payment of € 7500 to Nadir Orujov as pecuniary damage.

Nadir Orujov was arrested over the murder in Baku. Orujov shot to death Ganja resident Rovshan Rustamov at the car wash owned by him in Nasimi district on June 8, 2011. Nadir Orujov gave himself up to Nasimi district police office and handed over Makarov pistol.

Nadir Orujov ran as a candidate for the parliamentary elections in 2005 and 2010. He is head of Azerbaijani representatives of the World Azerbaijanis Congress chaired by Gulamrza Sabri Tabrizi. He is director general of Ziver Nadir commercial firm.

Criminal case was launched on the fact on articles 120.1 (premeditated murder) and 228.1 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies (except for the smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition to it), explosives) of the Criminal Code.
