Etimad Ismayilov sentenced to 8 years in jail

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh, Lachin Sultanova – APA. Chelyabinsk central court finished hearing on the case of Etimad Ismayilov, son of Justice Party’s chairman Ilyas Ismayilov, and others, public lawyer Vladimir Filichkin told APA.

The lawyer said the court passed judgment on the defendants. Etimad Ismayilov was sentenced to 8 years, Vladimir Guzov to 9 years, Abbas Jafarov to 5 years and Vladimir Shvadchenko to 3 years and six months in jail. The lawyer said they would file an appeal against the court decision within ten days.

The public prosecutor had demanded 9 year-imprisonment for Etimad Ismayilov, 8 year-imprisonment for Vladimir Guzov, 6 year-imprisonment for Abbas Jafarov, 3 year suspended sentenced for Vladimir Shvadchenko.

Etimad Ismayilov faced charges under articles on “money laundering” and “swindling”.
Etimad Ismayilov is the owner of “Avroasiya” Industry-Finance Group LLC. One of the companies under the patronage of Chelyabinsk Governor owes Avroasiya Industry-Finance Group LLC $1mln. Arbitration Court also gave a document confirming the company’s debt to Etimad Ismayilov’s company. Etimad Ismayilov was detained by the officers of Russian Federal Security Service at Domodedovo airport on March 25, 2008.

The criminal case was launched in 2007. Besides Etimad Ismayilov, Ukrainian citizen, Director General of “Russkaya zernovaya kompaniya” Vladimir Guzov, head of the auxiliary structure Abbas Jafarov and head of “Prodkorporasiya” Vladimir Shvadchenko are also involved in the case.
