Russian human rights defender to appeal to Russian and Azerbaijani presidents concerning violation of Etimad Ismayilovâ€™s rights

Baku. Lachin Sultanova, Shahriyar Alizadeh â€“ APA. Chelyabinsk central court continued hearing on the case of Etimad Ismayilov, son of Justice Partyâ€™s chairman Ilyas Ismayilov, and others, public lawyer Vladimir Filichkin told APA.

He said Etimad Ismayilov was to make his last plea. But he said that he can not make the last plea as he did not participate in the trial, did not hear the speeches of witnesses, experts, defense. Etimad Ismayilov asked the court to offer conditions to him to familiarize with the speeches. Judge Gleb Latsev objected to it. It caused a conflict in the hearing. Public lawyer said he will go on hunger strike if it continues so.
â€œI stated that I will go on hunger strike if the law is violated. If it does not help, I will renounce citizenship,â€ he said.

Vladimir Filichkin human rights commissioner Aleksei Sevastyanov supported the defense.
â€œChairman of Chelyabinsk province court Fyodor Zyabkin and other officials will be appealed in connection with the violation of the law, the appeal will cover two violations of law of the court. One of them is the violation of the right to fair trial, the other right to defend oneself. Etimad Ismayilov has been deprived of the right to have a reliable lawyer. He does not trust lawyer Yekaterina Berezniyavskaya appointed by the court. Chairman of Chelyabinsk province public chamber Vyacheslav Skvortsov and ombudsman Aleksei Sevastyanov will hold a press conference soon. They will send the materials to the chairman of the Russian public chamber and Russian ombudsman Vladimir Lukin.

Human rights defender Valeri Suzlov will inform Russian ad Azerbaijani presidents about law violations of Chelyabinsk City Central Courtâ€.

To the public lawyer, Russian media representatives watch the trial as well: â€œEtimad Ismayilov behaves very educated and cleverâ€.

The trial has been postponed.

Remind that, public prosecutor delivered speech at the previous trial and demanded to sentence Etimad Ismayilov to 10 years in general regime colony, Vladimir Guzov â€“ 8 years, Abbas Jafarov â€“ 6, Vladimir Shvadchenko â€“ 3 years of conditional sentence.

Note that, according to the Russian criminal code, Ismayilov is accused in money laundering and swindle. He is an owner of the Eurasian Industrial-Financial Group Ltd. A company controlled by Chelyabinsk Governor indebted one million dollar to Ismayilovâ€™s company. The arbitration court issued a document confirming this fact. Ismayilov was detained on March 25, 2008 by Russian security forces at the Moscowâ€™s Domodedovo airport on his arrival from Baku.

The related criminal case was launched in 2007. Alongside with Ismayilov, Ukrainian citizen, chief executive of the Russian grain company Vladimir Guzov, head of the broker group Abbas Jafarov and head of â€œProdkorporasiyaâ€ Vladimir Svadchenko are also involved in this case.
