Australian father jailed for 33 years for murder of his three sons

Baku-APA. An Australian father on Friday has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering his three sons by driving them into a dam on Father’s Day, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

Robert Farquharson, 41, found guilty of deliberately killing his three boys, Jai, Tyler and Bailey in July 2005.

Farquharson, who was on an access visit with the boys, drove his car into the deep, dark dam near Winchelsea in the Victoria’s south-west. He swam to shore, leaving the boys to drown in the car.

On Friday, Justice Lex Lasry said the three boys must have met terrifying deaths, while he jailed Farquharson for life, and ordered he serve at least 33 years in prison before being eligible for parole.

"Your crimes have devastated a significant number of people," he said in the court on Friday. "Primary among them is your ex- wife Cindy Gambino, the mother of these three children."

Outside court, Gambino criticized Farquharson’s 33-year minimum term.

"It’s never going to be enough," Gambino told Australia Associated Press. "It’s a life sentence for me. It should be a life sentence for him."

Farquharson’s barrister Peter Morrissey, SC, told journalists outside court that his client intended to lodge an appeal.
