Azerbaijani businessman Vugar Khalilov arrested in Kyrgyzstan issues statement after releasing

Baku â€“ APA. Azerbaijani businessman and journalist, founder and chief executive of Flexi Communications Company Vugar Khalilov, who was arrested during unrests in Kyrgyzstan, was declared not guilty by the Kyrgyz court, his lawyer Artem Ivanov told APA. Khalilov immediately left Kyrgyzstan because his life was at risk there. Despite releasing from the court room, the city prosecutorâ€™s office refused to return his British passport.

â€œSome reliable sources told me that if they donâ€™t return my passport, it means that they can launch another criminal investigation against me claiming that there are new evidences or criminal groups can kidnap me to demand money. They advised me not to wait in Kyrgyzstan and to leave the country immediatelyâ€, said Khalilov.

He said President of Kyrgyzstan and law-enforcement organizations of this country left his addresses without response.

â€œMy appeals to President Roza Otunbayeva in connection with demand of protection of international legal norms, as well as Kyrgyz laws and with request of making opportunity for my treatment remained unanswered.

During the period of my arrest and illegal detention the inspectors of city prosecutorâ€™s office did not let me meet with my advocate and British Consul.

I declare that criminal case launched against me is a total trick and has no ground. The truth is that, inspectors of the city prosecutorâ€™s office wanted to get information from me on these issues out of the framework of my professional activity.

One of the causes of my ordered arrest and investigation is an expedient falsification of facts by some journalists and some local and foreign mass media, spread of calumnious materials about me and my company and to form public opinion in this regard.

All these made danger for my life, caused disturbance of my rights, financial and spiritual harms, damage to my business and to â€œFlexi Communicationsâ€ company. The activity of the company has paralyzed.

My advocates investigate issues on filing lawsuit against some persons and mass media.

I protest against the naming of me and â€œFlexi Communicationsâ€ company with former Kyrgyz government and authority. After then all opinions and pretensions on my name and name of my company will be assessed as disgracing my authorityâ€.
