Deputy Minister gave information about the activity of the service.
Nazim Alakbarov highly appreciated the cooperation between the ICRC and Penitentiary Service. He said due to the expansion of the cooperation with the ICRC the level of the health services for prisoners and defendants, particularly to those suffering from tuberculosis increased, the number of the deaths from this disease considerably reduced. Cherine Pollini gave information about the activity of the ICRC in the South Caucasus and said ICRC is dealing with determining missing persons and captives, offering aids to refugees and IDPs. Silvie Granisher noted that observance of the ICRC’s recommendations by the penitentiary facilities, improvement of the detention conditions reduced the number of visits.
