35,000 ha area of Azerbaijan’s occupied Fuzuli region burned by Armenians

Baku – APA. August 23 will mark the 17th anniversary of the occupation of Azerbaijan’s Fuzuli region by Armenians. Press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told APA that on August 23, 1993, Armenians occupied 125368 ha area (50 villages) of Fuzuli region (total area 139393 ha).

There are 2 limestone beds (Dovletyarli, Dilagar), Kurdmahmudlu clay beds, Guruchay sand and gravel beds in Fuzuli region.

11 eastern plane trees aged between 200-1400 had been documented as natural monuments and preserved by the occupation.

The Center for Assessment of Destructive Impact on Environment and Natural Resources in the Occupied Azerbaijani Territories revealed the following facts of destruction of natural resources in the region by Armenians after the occupation. Trees were cut in Dovlatyarli village, Gochahmadli village, the vegetation was completely destroyed in Yaglivand village, over 35,000 ha area of the region was burned by Armenians in 2006-2009.
