Azerbaijani Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office issues statement on murder committed in Mashtaga

Press service of the Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office told APA that Babayev Rasul Huseyngulu, 34, was called to Sabunchu district police office on August 17 in connection with the missing Mashtaga resident Guliyev Hamidaga Hatem, 24. Rasul Babayev said he knifed to death Hamidaga Guliyev on August 3, 2010, and threw body into the Mashtaga section of Samur-Absheron canal.

The yard of Babayevâ€™s house was immediately searched, trousers, shirt and a knife with blood spots on them were found in the sewage well. Criminal case has been launched on the fact on article 120.1 of the Criminal Code.

According to initial investigations, Guliyev illegally demanded money from Babayev, who had private business. It happened several times. On August 3, Babayev invited Guliyev to his house under the pretext of giving money and knifed him to death in heart and abdomen. Later, he threw the body into the Mashtaga section of Samur-Absheron canal, returned home, put his trousers, shirt spotted with blood and the knife into a sack and threw the sack into the sewage well.

As a result of the measures taken by the district prosecutorâ€™s office and district police office, Guliyevâ€™s body was found in Buzovna section of Samur-Absheron canal. The body was sent to Sabunchu district forensic medical examination department.

Babayev was arrested on August 18, 2010. The district prosecutorâ€™s office continues investigation.
