Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Baku Appeal Court has today held hearing on the appeal of court decision on lawsuit filed by Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov against editor-in-chief of the Femida 007 newspaper Eyyub Karimov, APA reports. Abid Abdinbeyov presided over the hearing. Eyyub Karimov said he informed the court that he would send cassation appeal to the Supreme Court and therefore it was contrary to the legislation to hold hearing on the appeal before the scheduled time.

The court recommended Karimov to send cassation appeal in a short time.

The next hearing will be held on May 6.

Karimov demanded to return the case to the first instance – Yasamal district court and to launch court investigation if appeal is processed. The prosecutor didn’t accept petitions and the court rejected it scheduling the hearing on April 22.

Both sides appealed the court decision and sent petitions to the baku Appeal Court.

Interior Minister Ramil Usubov filed lawsuit against Ayyub Karimov under article 147.2 (slander by accusing of committing grave crimes) of the Criminal Code because of Karimov’s publications in the newspapers Azadlig and Femida 007.
