According to the plan of joint measures approved by Azerbaijani and Russian interior ministries, search and prophylactic measures were taken in the borderline regions of the two countries on April 6-10, 2010. The main aim of the operation was to render harmless transnational organized criminal gangs, terrorist groups, determine illegal channels of smuggling of weapons, explosive agents and devices, drugs, material resources.
The operations covered Balaken, Zagatala, Gakh, Shaki, Oghuz, Gabala, Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz regions of the republic. 16 were detained as a result of the operations. 8 illegal submachine guns, 7 pistols, 45 rifled guns and sporting guns, 25 grenades, 32 military devices, over 4000 cartridges were seized from the people.
Reproaches were applied on 293 administrative offences. Similar operations are planned to prevent and solve crimes.
