Criminal investigation of production and sale of harmful foods in Baku

The Public Service on Anti-Monopoly Policy and Protection of Consumersâ€™ Rights of the Ministry of Economic Development inspected the meat products produced by Absheron-2000 firm based in Sabunchu district of Baku and identified that most of the products was put on sale without date of production and storable life shown on the etiquettes exceeded the normative technical indexes. It was identified that expired products were also saved in the storage and most of the products were without appropriate certificates of conformance. The producers also used expired flavors in the production sausages and other meat products.

680 kg of expired cooked and 512 kg of smoked sausage, 470 kg of expired frank, 180 kg of smoked chicken legs, 70 kg of frankfurters and 17 kg of smoked pork were found in the firmâ€™s storage.

There were also 963 kg of expired sausage materials, as well as 334 kg of flavors, 552 kg of cheese, 77 kg of cream and 402 kg of sausage returned from the sale in the storage.

1.365 kg raw material, including 600 kg lard, 125 kg minced and 640 kg frozen meat, 36.740 kg various imported products having no necessary documents, including 23.777 kg cheese, 602 kg cream and 12.361 kg butter were revealed in the cellar.

18,000 m sausage cover, where the expiry date was prolonged, 8150 labels, counterfeit products with labels of Russian-based â€œNaloâ€, â€œLazurnayaâ€, 8m sausage cover were revealed in the cellar.

13 kinds of sausages had no certificates of conformance, 10 kinds of sausages had no hygienic certificates.

The materials gathered by the Ministry of Economic Development were submitted to Azerbaijani Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office. Criminal case has been launched on the facts on articles 197.2, 200.2.3 and 308.1 of the Criminal Code, Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office will carry out the investigation.
