U.S. Government Shutdown not affects activity of U.S. Mission to Azerbaijan

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan has issued a statement on the impact of the U.S. Government Shutdown on the U.S. Mission to Azerbaijan, APA reports quoting to the website of the Embassy. The statement says: “The lapse in government appropriations means many activities of the U.S. Government are being shut down. The U.S. Mission to Azerbaijan is currently operating with full staff.

Within legal limitations, the Mission will continue activities related to protecting U.S. citizens, safeguarding national security, and advancing trade and economic interests.

Globally, embassy staffs have been directed not to make speeches, participate in interviews, or organize public events unless they relate to vital national interests.

Passport renewals and other U.S. citizen services continue to operate on a normal schedule. Services for visa applicants also continue to operate normally.”

The U.S. suspended funding federal agencies on October 2. The U.S. government entered a partial shutdown on October 1 after Congress failed to reach a deal on a spending plan for the new fiscal year.
