Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. “Caspian littoral countries - Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan have achieved significant progress during the talks on the settlement of the Caspian Sea status,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said while commenting on the outcomes of the meeting of foreign ministers of Caspian littoral countries in Moscow, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti. "We have reviewed the course of the work of the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, and we have noted a significant progress including the one reached during our talks today," Lavrov said.

"If you are talking about countries situated outside of the Caspian Sea region, we have clearly stated during the discussions and the elaboration of documents that the five Caspian Sea littoral states are responsible for the state of affairs in the Caspian Sea region," Lavrov told reporters.

Sergei Lavrov noted that the Caspian Five could reach a significant rapprochement on the issue of differentiation of marine territory.
