Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. “Azerbaijani-Turkish relations stand at the highest level. This has to be so, because our people are brothers. We’ve been close to each other for centuries. We’re now building our future together as two independent countries”, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said during a joint statement with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Baku.
The head of state said political and economic relations between the two countries are developing day after day.
“We accept the growing share of Turkey in Shah Deniz field and TANAP project with great pleasure, because Turkish companies will have an even greater share. TANAP is a Turkish-Azerbaijani project, this project was launched two years ago. Now this project is being implemented,” President Aliyev added.
The president said the relations in energy sphere are very important not only for the two countries, but also for the entire region and the world.
“Azerbaijan will host a great event tomorrow. The construction of the Southern Gas Corridor will start tomorrow. September 20 is a historic date for us, because 20 years ago on September 20 we signed the Contract of the Century. After twenty years, we are going to implement the project of the 21st century. The role of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the effective implementation of the project is of great importance”, President Aliyev said.
The head of state said the successful implementation of Trans Anatolian, Shah Deniz-2 and other projects in energy sphere will create new conditions in the region.
“These projects will meet both political and economic interests of the two countries”, he said.
