President Ilham Aliyev: " Malaysia is one of the most important partners and friendly countries for Azerbaijan"

Baku - APA. Unfortunately, the trade turnover between two countries at a very low level. But I am sure that after this visit, there will be positive progress, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, after a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Mohammad Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

The President added that economic cooperation between two countries was discussed with the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the agreement was reached on mutual investments between companies of two countries.

"We have considered the joint investment opportunities - we are talking about projects that can be implemented in third countries. In my opinion, there is great potential. Today we had a detailed discussion in the energy sector. There are great prospects for our cooperation in this area. In my opinion, we can achieve a strategic partnership in this area - in matters of export, transport and processing energy. The Memorandum of Understanding, signed between SOCAR and “Petroliam Nasional Berhad”, provides a framework for cooperation. I am sure that officials of both companies will immediately begin an active dialogue and cooperation. Because the parties have identified specific projects. I hope that we will be able to see real results within the shortest possible time ", - said the Head of State.

President of Azerbaijan said that Malaysia is one of the most important partner and friendly countries for Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev said that in order to strengthen Islamic solidarity between Azerbaijan and Malaysia joint activities and efforts are conducted and two countries are cooperating in the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation:

"Malaysia has achieved great results in terms of economic, political and social development. It can be an example for many countries. Malaysia has made great progress in terms of creating a strong, stable political system and a strong economic background. In my opinion, development and solidarity of Islamic countries contribute to the strengthening of cooperation. I believe that by combining our efforts, we can achieve even more.
