Delegation led by Chairman of European Committee for Prevention of Torture Latif Huseynov visits Morocco

Baku – APA. A delegation led by Chairman of European Committee for the Prevention of Torture Latif Huseynov was on a visit to the Kingdom of Morocco on September 8-9.

Husyenov told APA that the visit made within the framework of South Program funded by the European Union aimed at conducting initial discussions on establishment of fruitful cooperation between the Committee and the government of Morocco.

During the visit, Huseynov held meetings with a number of Moroccan officials and stressed the significance of using the extensive experience of the European Committee on prevention of torture by relevant authorities of Morocco. Huseynov said that the Committee he chaired is ready to help the government of Morocco in the field of fight against torture.

The main problems existing in Moroccan prisons and their possible solutions were discussed during the meetings.

Huseynov pointed out the recent large-scale activities carried out in the penitentiary field in Azerbaijan and steps taken towards the compliance of the national legislation with international standards.
