Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament Ogtay Asadov has received the UK delegation visiting Azerbaijan. The parliament told APA that Asadov said the political relations between both countries positively influence the economy: “More than 150 UK companies are operating in Azerbaijan. BP is closely participating in exploitation of Caspian’s hydrocarbon resources and their delivery to European markets”.
Speaker of parliament said that integration into Europe is a priority in Azerbaijan’s foreign policy: “Along with these, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, which impedes the regional development, is one of the major problems. This problem poses a threat not only to the regional security, but also to Europe's security. We support fair settlement of the conflict within the international legal norms. We hope that UK will support justice in this issue”.
Making speech at the meeting UK guests – Lord John from Bletsoe, Lord Lexden, Jeremy Bradshaw, Leo Docherty and Benjamin Wegg-Prosser gave information about UK legislative system and took close interest in the activity of Azerbaijani parliament.
