Baku – APA. As a part of his visit to New York to take part in the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with the UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Gyan Chandra Acharya.
Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA that Gyan Chandra Acharya informed about the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and spoke about the work done by his organization for solution of these countries’ problems.
Taking into account Azerbaijan’s achievements in economic sphere, the UN Under-Secretary-General asked to review Azerbaijan’s opportunities to assist the development of the countries he is representing.
Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted Azerbaijan’s close cooperation with the UN and its agencies and gave information about Azerbaijan’s participation in the projects implemented in humanitarian sphere. Speaking about activity of Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mammadyarov said that the opportunities of AIDA’s participation in the projects implemented in the least developed countries and landlocked developing countries will be reviewed.
