Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov has commented on the case of Orkhan Zeynalov, who is accused of murdering 25-year-old Yegor Sherbakov, APA reports.
The deputy minister said that there are several aspects in Orkhan Zeynalov’s case.
“If the case is considered an ordinary crime, the investigation should be carried out within the law. Due to the involvement of its citizen in the incident in the territory of a third state, Azerbaijan demands the norms and principles of the international law and legislation to be observed in this regard. On the other hand, to my mind, this issue has been unreasonably exaggerated in Russia and has become the issue of public pride. I would like to know where it will lead to and who is behind it.”
Azimov noted that such undesirable events may occur in every country: “You know that there is a tense criminal situation in Russia and many other events happened in the megalopolis like Moscow on that day. But those events have not been brought to the public’s attention. In this regard, I see some artificiality. How do people or structures, which are behind it, see a way out of this artificial situation? How long do they continue this crisis and what benefits will they drive from it? I think that those who want to negatively affect Russia-Azerbaijan relations should evaluate the situation accurately in order to avoid boomerang effect. On the other hand, if an ordinary incident happened, its investigation and trial should be carried out within the law. Azerbaijan supports it.”
