U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon has released a video address marking the first anniversary of the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, APA reports.
In the address posted on the social media accounts of the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan, the diplomat spoke about the progress achieved over the past year in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as in U.S.-Azerbaijan relations.
Carlon said that exactly one year ago, on August 8, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to a historic peace summit at the White House.
"That day, the three leaders initialed an agreement that laid the foundation for lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia after more than three decades of conflict," she noted.
According to the diplomat, over the past year, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia have demonstrated their commitment to the spirit of the White House Summit and taken concrete steps toward lasting peace.
"Since August 8, the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to remaining faithful to the spirit of the White House Summit and have taken bold and concrete steps toward lasting peace," Carlon emphasized.
She said that over the course of the year, regular contacts between civil society and initial cross-border trade ties have emerged. The diplomat particularly noted that Armenia has begun regularly purchasing fuel from Azerbaijan.
Carlon said that one of the key elements of the agreements reached on August 8 was the creation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity – the TRIPP project.
