On June 18, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with Marius-Gabriel Lazurca, National Security Adviser to the President of Romania, the Foreign Ministry told APA.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Romania, as well as regional security issues.
The parties emphasized that high-level mutual visits and intensive political dialogue over recent years have made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations. The importance of the Joint Commission on Trade-Economic Relations and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Romania in expanding cooperation was also noted.
The meeting highlighted that the energy sector remains one of the key areas of Azerbaijan-Romania cooperation. In addition to traditional energy, opportunities for developing partnership in green energy and alternative energy sources were reviewed. The sides also discussed the existing potential for expanding cooperation in transport and communications, education, pharmaceuticals, and other fields, as well as promoting mutual investments.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information about Azerbaijan’s favorable investment climate and highlighted the opportunities created for investors. In this context, the growing role of the Alat Free Economic Zone as a regional trade and logistics hub was discussed, and opportunities for Romanian companies to operate there were noted.
The parties emphasized the importance of cooperation within international organizations, including in the context of engagement with the European Union.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other bilateral and regional issues.
