We highly value Turkmenistan’s policy of neutrality; friendly and brotherly relations exist between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, said at an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the recognition of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, APA reports.
The Prime Minister stated that Azerbaijan highly values and deeply respects Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality, officially recognized and supported by the UN: “Over the 30 years that Turkmenistan has pursued this course, it has convincingly proved that neutrality is not only a foreign policy stance but also a transformative force that can contribute to peace, security, and sustainable development. Azerbaijan has always supported the resolutions on neutrality put forward by Turkmenistan at the UN and has joined as a co-author the resolution ‘International Year of Peace and Trust – 2025.’ We regard these initiatives of brotherly Turkmenistan as an important contribution to the global architecture of peace and security. The Republic of Azerbaijan highly appreciates Turkmenistan’s initiative to establish the University of Neutrality under the auspices of the UN and expresses its readiness to participate actively in the work of the University. In June of this year, an international scientific-practical symposium ‘Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan,’ dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and at the same time to the ‘International Year of Peace and Trust,’ was held in Baku.”
