Baku. Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “Serious and concrete negotiations were held on Gabala RLS between Azerbaijan and Russia, Azerbaijan determined the rent for the use of RLS and Russia disagreed with it. I consider it would be better if every country decides itself which bases and servicemen can be deployed in its territory. Azerbaijan made decision itself and that is good”, said former US ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza, APA reports.

Bryza also commented on the situation in the region: “I don’t expect a war in the region as it is said in the reports of some non-governmental organizations. The war may start only after the deliberate decision of one of the parties. I think that Armenia and Azerbaijan are not interested in it. The establishment of confidence between the sides and coexistence of the two peoples are more acceptable than a war.”
