At the meeting of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, diplomats assigned to three countries were listened to - in particular, the Extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, the Ambassador of Georgia to Türkiye, Giorgi Janjghava, and the Ambassador to Armenia, Giorgi Sharvashidze, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
During the closed hearing, the situation in the region, the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, as well as joint economic projects and humanitarian issues were in focus.
Zurab Pataradze noted that 2023 was quite intense in terms of Georgian-Azerbaijani relations, and dynamic development of bilateral political relations. He stressed that this year, the volume of trade between the two countries will exceed $1 billion. He noted that the two countries are working to strengthen the Middle Corridor and attract additional cargo to the region.
Georgia's Ambassador to Türkiye Giorgi Janjghava also said that relations between Georgia and Türkiye have reached a peak. He noted that the volume of trade turnover between the two countries is close to $3 billion. He added that after 2005, Türkiye invested more than $2 billion in Georgia.
Georgia's Ambassador to Armenia Giorgi Sharvashidze also stated that his country's economic relations with Armenia are developing. He added that the number of tourists coming from Armenia to Georgia increased by 41% this year. He noted that a Georgian Center will be opened at Yerevan State University.
