"Today, the construction of new roads between Azerbaijan and Armenia is being actively discussed. We can say with confidence that this is good for the region," Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said in an interview with Imedi TV channel, APA's local bureau reports.
According to her, the new roads to be built will only increase the importance of the region in terms of connectivity.
"I really don't see a risk here. Georgia will not disappear from the map. The fact that those who talk about connectivity today do not mention Georgia, which is the main connection for Europe, calls into question their competence," Bochorishvili added.
The minister noted that it is unthinkable for any road to replace Georgia.
"The demand for the road that passes through Georgia and has been operating for a long time is increasing year by year. Even if three or four new routes are added to this road, it will not be enough to take into account the cargo flows between the West and the East," he added.
