The agreement to be signed in Constanța will increase the importance of the Middle Corridor, said Romania’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vasile Soare, at a reception in Baku dedicated to Romania’s national day, APA reports.

“Over the past 34 years, cooperation between Romania and Azerbaijan has developed significantly in many areas, including political-diplomatic, economic, energy, transport and communications, culture and education, as well as at the level of both societies and peoples. The imminent signing in Constanța of the Intergovernmental Agreement on the establishment of the Black Sea–Caspian Sea International Transport Route between Romania, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will undoubtedly contribute to increasing the importance of the Middle Corridor and to placing the ports of Baku and Constanța on the map as transport hubs capable of providing direct connectivity between Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia,” the ambassador noted.

The diplomat stated that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania has been strengthening and emphasized the growing international prestige of our country: “Romania has been and continues to be a friend and sincere supporter of Azerbaijan in its efforts aimed at achieving an environment of peace, stability and security in the South Caucasus. Today, the Republic of Azerbaijan is asserting itself as a state with ambitious goals, thanks to its internal dynamism and international potential, and I take this opportunity to extend our sincere congratulations.”
