Baku. Victoria Dementeva â€“ APA. â€œThe European Parliament adopted the document on Ramil Safarov and it has political character,â€ Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affair Elman Abdullayev spoke to journalists, APA reports.

He expressed his regret that the European Parliament fell under the influence of Armenian Diasporas: â€œThe issue on Ramil Safarov is closed for Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan and Hungary act within law. The fact of occupation of Azerbaijani lands must be considered during the discussion of this issue. The members of the European Parliament hastily adopted the document on Ramil Safarov without learning the root of the problemâ€.

The extradition of Officer Ramil Safarov to Azerbaijan and his pardoning were discussed at the plenary meeting of the European Parliament on September 13, Strasbourg.

The deputies expressed their concern in the resolution that this issue can strain the situation in Azerbaijan and Armenia and put the peace process of Nagorno Karabakh under threat.

They called the European Union to play an active role in the settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
