APA reports quoting to TEAS.

"The ALDE Group in the European Parliament decided not sign the resolution on the case of Ramil Safarov, since the Azerbaijani authorities have not violated international law. Unfortunately, there it has aggravated the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and hindered progress towards resolution of the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh”, Kristiina Ojuland said. The member of the Estonian parliament also stressed that the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions is the internationally recognised territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and that should also be the basis for the position of the EU. The absence of any results after 20 years of work indicates that the Minsk Group needs a reshuffle.

According to her in order to find a balance in the whole negotiation process, France should be replaced by the EU, which has a historic chance for resolving this frozen conflict.

Kristiina Ojuland said that the European Parliament stays committed to the developments in the South-Caucasus and its members are aware of the huge potential Azerbaijan has. She also stressed that a constructive partnership between Brussels and Baku entails reciprocity and commitment to shared values.
