Azerbaijan and Montenegro to establish Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation

Baku. Victoria Dementeva – APA. Montenegro’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration NebojÅ¡a KaluÄ‘erović hosted the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Montenegro, Eldar Hasanov. The ambassador welcomed the results of the two countries’ bilateral cooperation and commended Montenegro’s progress in pursuing its foreign policy priorities – EU and NATO membership, APA reports quoting the Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Discussing the economic relations, Hasanov particularly stressed SOCAR’s investment in Kumbor and remarked that this project will be an incentive to other companies to invest in Montenegro. Hasanov welcomed the Government of Montenegro’s decision regarding a temporary removal of the visa regime for Azerbaijan’s citizens, assuring Montenegro that this will boost the tourism cooperation of the two countries. The ambassador noted the importance of cooperation in infrastructure, which is an active topic of discussion between the two line ministries.

In that sense, he agreed that SOCAR’s investment is of great importance for Montenegro, and also a good example for potential investors interested in Montenegro. In the light of continuing the dialogue on boosting economic cooperation, Minister KaluÄ‘erović said that the Joint Commission for economic cooperation, soon to be established, will be an important forum for discussing new projects of mutual interest.
