Georgian Ambassador to Yerevan summoned to Armenian Foreign Ministry

Baku. Habil Suleymanzadeh â€“ APA. Georgian Ambassador to Yerevan Tengiz Sharmanashvili was summoned to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, spokesman for Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan said, APA reports quoting Novosti-Armenia agency.

Ambassador was summoned to the Armenian Foreign Ministry in connection with the official statement issued by the Georgian Foreign Ministry refusing to recognize the elections of so-called "local self-government bodies" in Nagorno Karabakh. A note of protest was handed over to the Georgian Ambassador.

The official statement issued by Tbilisi says: â€œThe Georgian Foreign Ministry reiterates its unequivocal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within internationally recognized borders, and does not recognize the illegal elections of so-called "local self-government bodies"’ in Nagorno Karabakh on 18 September 2011.â€
