Baku. Habil Suleymanzadeh – APA. Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Lotem made comments on various opinions and thoughts in the press about possible impact of current Israel-Turkey tensions on Israel-Azerbaijan relations. Ambassador told APA that relations between Azerbaijan and Israel rest on their own solid basis and reflect common Political, Strategic, Economic and cultural interests and motivations. “This translates itself into a wide range of activities and projects which can not be subjected to any third party interests. A close and direct contact between the leaderships enables to bridge also occasional differences in opinion. As Israel has a strong interest in finding a solution to the crisis in its relations with Turkey, and as the political circumstances in the Middle East call for such a development, I remain optimistic. My optimism is based not only on common interests and needs but also on the historical links between Jews and Turks and between Israel and Turkey, the leading democracies in the Middle East.”
