Moscow – APA. “It is clear that the South Caucasus region, which border on both Turkey and Russia, has an important significance. We are trying to achieve peace, stability and welfare in this region”, Turkish President Abdullah Gül told “Moskovskiy Komsomolets” newspaper and “MK-Turkey” news portal.

President Gül called the Nagorno Karabakh conflict as the biggest problem, which prevents formation of advantageous environment in the South Caucasus. “I consider that Turkey and Russia have same position on this issue. The progress in the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict has an important significance from this point of view. I would like to underline that we are ready to support the process of conflict solution in partnership with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and to make all necessary steps towards the solution of the problem. The progress in this process, undoubtedly, will have a positive impact on the Turkish-Armenian relations. Turkey’s position regarding the normalization of the relations with Armenia is so. We cordially wish to end the normalization process. Establishing peace, stability and cooperation in the South Caucasus and beyond, normalization of the Azerbaijan-Armenia, as well as Turkey-Armenia relations can not be accepted as separate processes, these issues demand to be considered on the region-wide basis”.
