APA reports that the agreement has been discussed at today’s meeting of the parliament. Chairman of the parliament’s international affairs committee Samad Seyidov gave information about the agreement. He said the document is based on the agreements signed between the states earlier and on Kars Treaty signed in 1921. He said the document shows that the parties will offer mutual assistance to each other in case one of them undergoes armed attack by a third state or a group of states.
“Special attention is paid to the military-technical cooperation, for example, establishment of infrastructure with the view of joint military operations, provision of the armed forces with necessary equipment etc. It means that our relations have risen to a new stage,” he said.

Samad Seyidov said the document covers military-political issues, economic cooperation, humanitarian and scientific cooperation.

112 voted for, 1 against the agreement.

The agreement was signed in Baku by Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents Ilham Aliyev and Abdullah Gul on August 16.

The document consists of 23 articles. The agreement contains chapters “Military-political and security issues”, “Military and military-technical cooperation issues”, “Economic cooperation issues”, “Humanitarian issues”, “Common and final provisions”.
