Facilitation of visa requirements with EU countries discussed at Eastern Partnership Foreign Ministers Second Meeting

Foreign Ministers of EU Member States, European Commission, Council of the European Union, European Investment Bank, EU Committee of the Regions and Committee of Economy and Economic and Social Committee, as well as Foreign Ministers of Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Catherine Ashton - EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The participants discussed current state of Eastern Partnership program, measures taken in this regard within last 1 year and future plans and projects.

Strategic importance of the Eastern Partnership program in deepening and strengthening of relations between the EU and Partner countries, quickening of political association and economic integration, supporting of political and social-economic reforms in the countries was noted in the meeting.

Results achieved with each country within the framework of bilateral and multilateral measures of the Eastern Partnership were analyzed.

Soonest solution of security problems, existing conflicts for realization of projects within the framework of the Eastern Partnership was focused on. It was noted that energy projects, especially projects within the framework of the South Corridor would play a special role in securing of European energy security.

Facilitation of visa requirements with EU countries was also focused on at the meeting and calls were sounded for EU to take serious steps in this sphere.
