Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. “Azerbaijan intends to turn oil revenues into the intellectual gold”, said Elnur Aslanov, chief of the Political Analysis and Information Provision Department of the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan, at the 3rd South Caucasus Security Forum in Baku. Speaking about the recent economic achievements of Azerbaijan, Aslanov said Azerbaijan became not only a bridge between the East and West, but regional center as well.

Elnur Aslanov mentioned the Nagorno Karabakh problem and said Azerbaijan was expecting from the European Union to express its opinion about the problem, to be more active and to react to the situation that Nagorno Karabakh remains as a grey zone: “The OSCE Minsk Group is working for 18 years. The negotiations are going on, but there is no concrete result. Azerbaijan wants not to conduct negotiations only, but also to achieve results”.

Aslanov said unfortunately the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council, Council of Europe, European Union and the Organization of the Islamic Conference have not been fulfilled yet: “Nagorno Karabakh is land of Azerbaijan. This is territory of Azerbaijan and should be returned according to the international principles. Armenia is a poorest country in the region. If the lands are not liberated, Armenia will remain isolated from the regional projects and its population will suffer from that”.

Aslanov addressed the Armenian representative, who is participating at the forum: “A new generation is already forming and it has different sense than previous one. There is no notion of co-existence for the new generation. It has completely different sense and completely different approach to the conflict. In this regard, prolongation of the conflict is complicating its solution”.
