Azerbaijan’s permanent representative to the Council of Europe: “Corruption exists in all countries”
# 30 November 2010 14:35 (UTC +04:00)
He informed that corruption exists in all countries: “We do not usually look at the reports of other countries, including the leading European countries. But if you are acquainted with these documents you will see that all European countries have corruption. For example, if you read the problems concerning Belgian penitentiary system you will see that our country’s situation is better. If the criticism is not preconceived, we agree with it and seek the ways for correct cooperation. Our problem is domestic corruption. Europe does not have corruption in this sphere and it shows itself in political framework, in great contracts. It is seen that there is no domestic corruption, but I live here and work for many years and see that all countries have corruption”.

Note that the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) has recently published its report on the 3rd round of Azerbaijan’s assessment.
