Director of Egyptian Alexandria Library visits frontline villages of Azerbaijanâ€™s Tovuz region - <font color=red>PHOTO</font>

Tovuz. Aykhan Huseynov â€“ APA. Director of Egyptâ€™s Library of Alexandria, Dr. Ismail Serageldin visited Tovuz region of Azerbaijan on November 21 at the invitation of MP Ganira Pashayeva. The Egyptian guest and Pashayeva visited Hajialli village of Tovuz where they saw a school and house shot down by Armenians. Serageldin was informed that Armenians fire on the houses of peaceful villages during a ceasefire. Then Serageldin visited Aghdam village located near the borders and was informed about the villageâ€™s cemetery destroyed by the Armenians.

The Egyptian guest and Ganira Pashayeva met with the soldiers and presented gifts to the distinguished servicemen. Then Dr. Serageldin visited the mosque of Tovuz region.

Dr. Serageldin told journalists that he was satisfied with his visit to the Azerbaijani regions. â€œI saw painful results of the war. I believe that this conflict will be resolved peacefully and fairly soon. The government of Egypt is guided by the UN resolutions and international law. The government of Egypt can not accept seizure of the territory of any country. There are UN resolutions for the solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and those resolutions must be fulfilledâ€.

The guest said he was happy to visit Nizami Ganjaviâ€™s mausoleum on his way to Tovuz â€œbecause Nizami was one of the poets of genius of 12th centuryâ€.

Ganira Pashayeva spoke about the importance of the Egyptian guestâ€™s visit to Tovuz. â€œIt is very important for us that Dr. Ismail Serageldin visited our region because he is one of the well-known persons not only in his country, but in the world. We are happy that Dr. Ismail Serageldin is a friend of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani-Egyptian relations are developing in all fields. It is very important that together with us Dr. Ismail visited the villages bordering with Armenia. The guest had a chance to see what the Armenian armed forces committed against the peaceful people, to learn how the Armenians are firing at schools and houses during the ceasefire, burning cemetery, targeting peaceful people working in their own farms and other facts. Dr. Ismail is always making fair statements about the Karabakh conflict. He is a person speaking mind. Of course, it is important that he will speak about what he saw here to the worldâ€.

The parliamentarian said the government of Egypt was always supporting Azerbaijan in the settlement of Karabakh conflict. â€œDr. Ismail is fulfilling two duties in his country. He is a political and public figure and at the same time, he is director of the Library of Alexandria, one of the worldâ€™s ancient libraries and author of the TV program with ten-million of audience. He promised to make programs and films about Azerbaijan and to introduce Azerbaijani realities to the Egyptian community and whole Arab world and he asked to help him to do this work. Of course, we will fulfill our dutyâ€.
